Division of Cardiovascular and Congenital Heart Disease surgery
Division of pediatric cardiac surgery includes of 2 operating theaters, 12 beds of post operation intensive care and 10 beds of cardiac surgery ward.
We maintain the only pediatric cardiac surgery team of the country that work within a pediatric hospital. Despite operating the most complex congenital heart surgeries, the Children’s Medical Center has a world-class success rates.
The most surgical procedure during this period was arterial switch operation for the neonates afflicted by transposition of the great arteries (TGA) and the other common surgeries were correction of Coarctation of aorta, Truancus arterious, TAPVC and VSD and ASD closure.
By supports from the nongovernemental organization of Chain of Hope of Iran and France (Chain d’espoire) an NICU-OH has setup besides the ICU-OH ward which receives infants of under 5 months and under 5 kg of weight. This project has secured a reduction in the rate of mortality in ICU in the following issues:
Separating this group of patient from other pediatric group has created more accurate monitoring and nursing care dedicated to this group of patients
Providing educational and workgroup programs for surgery room personnel, nurses and medical staff in order to fulfil full care of patient before and after surgery
Exchange program with well-known centers and organizations including Necker Paris Hospital and mission of cardiac alliance group in Tehran-Iran which has been started since 2013 and will be in progress.
We perform annually about 400 hundred curative and palliative pediatric heart surgeries.
